Deal will come warm on the heels of MSFT’s Affirmed Networks buyout
Microsoft has agreed to invest in the UK’s Metaswitch Networks, a virtualised community software software expert for an undisclosed sum, a lot less than 10 weeks just after pinching Affirmed Networks from beneath AWS’s nose, as the business continues its drive into the 5G/telco software sector.
Metaswitch, launched in 1981, is a community features virtualisation (NFV) pioneer which delivers networking software stacks to OEMs and technique sellers globally. It states it has delivered stacks to “more than 1,000 communications provider suppliers and community devices suppliers.”
Its consumers involve Cisco, Datacom, Dell and Nokia.
The business offers a 5G core that it promises lets operators transcend the chance of running “highly-inefficient twin-core networks” as they pivot from 4G to 5G and also delivers a networking software toolkit to OEMs.
The buyout will come as telcos proceed
